President Joe Biden touted the environmental benefits of domestically produced steel Wednesday as he called for boosting tariffs on Chinese products.

The president traveled to the U.S. Steelworkers headquarters in Pittsburgh, where he promoted the climate benefits of U.S.-made steel as he announced new moves to support the domestic steel industry.

“Clean American steel” is one of the “industries of the future,” Biden told the crowd as he boasted about the funding his administration has put toward manufacturing. “The way we produce it here emits much less carbon than steel made in China,” the president said.
