The director of the Department of Energy’s loan office during the Biden administration is co-launching a podcast Wednesday that will focus on shifts in the energy sector.
Jigar Shah plans to join Katherine Hamilton, a principal at the bipartisan consulting firm 38 North Solutions, and journalist Stephen Lacey on “Open Circuit,” a new Latitude Media program airing Fridays starting Feb. 14, according to a press release. The trio led a separate podcast, “The Energy Gang,” prior to Shah joining DOE in 2021. Lacey co-founded Latitude Media in 2018.
“When we started our original podcast, we were considered to be in the ‘alternative energy’ industry,” Shah said in a statement. “Since then, there’s been a tremendous paradigm shift, and we’re now the dominant energy industry, but we are not necessarily acting or feeling dominant. That disconnect creates so much to discuss.”
As head of the office, Shah deployed more than $100 billion in DOE loans, including several multibillion-dollar deals in the last three weeks of the Biden administration.
