BLM staffer named as next superintendent of Oregon park

The National Park Service has named a Bureau of Land Management staffer as the next superintendent of Crater Lake National Park in Oregon.

Kevin Heatley is currently the deputy chief of the Bureau of Land Management’s National Environmental Policy Act, planning and decision support division. He also worked for the BLM in Oregon as the Medford District assistant field manager and the Klamath Falls field manager.

Outside of the BLM, he has served as a supervisory natural resource manager for the Army Corps of Engineers and was a director of conservation for the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation.

“Having previously served as the field manager for the Bureau of Land Management in Klamath Falls, Kevin has a track record of working across agencies to solve complex land management issues,” said Pacific West Regional Director David Szymanski.
