Burgum, Wright, others due back on the Hill this week

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum and Energy Secretary Chris Wright will be the most prominent among a trove of administration officials on Capitol Hill this week.

Members of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and the House Natural Resources Committee will question Burgum about his plan to cut Interior by roughly 30 percent.

Lawmakers — particularly Democrats — are poised to grill the secretary about plans to scrap the department’s solar programs, which are written off as “Green New Scam technologies,” and a plan to create a new wildland fire bureau.

Also contentious is a proposal to transfer some national park sites to state management, an initiative Burgum argued could help slash the National Park Service budget by $900 million.
