California homeowners and lawmakers are spending billions of dollars on projects that are designed to protect people and property from climate-juiced wildfires.
But property insurance companies aren’t accounting for those investments when deciding whether to provide coverage in communities across the state.

The measure would force property insurers to consider wildfire mitigation efforts in their underwriting models, which help determine where the companies are willing to write coverage.
