LOS ANGELES — California climate regulators said Wednesday they expect to beat the deadline to redo their emissions trading program for transportation fuels after the state’s administrative law agency rejected it last month.
What happened: The California Air Resources Board will resubmit amendments to its transportation fuels emissions trading program sooner than the 120-day deadline provided by the Office of Administrative Law, a top agency staffer said at the North American Carbon World conference in Los Angeles.
CARB Deputy Executive Officer Rajinder Sahota said CARB is working to address the issues presented by the OAL, which rejected the agency’s amendments to its low-carbon fuel standard in February, and will resubmit the rule “as quickly as possible.”
“We don’t want to take 120 days,” said Sahota. “We know that investments need certainty … and so don’t expect us to take 120 days, expect us to move as quickly as we can.”
