SAN FRANCISCO — Gov. Gavin Newsom’s administration will release details next week on how it plans to structure some $200 million in state incentives for electric vehicles, California’s top climate regulator said Tuesday.

What happened: California Air Resources Board Chair Lauren Sanchez said officials would flesh out the program that Newsom put forth as part of his proposed budget earlier this month.

“Details about how the rebates program will be structured will be publicly announced next week,” she said in an appearance at Bloomberg’s New Energy Finance conference in San Francisco.

Why it matters: The move is intended to counter flagging EV sales linked to the Trump administration’s cancellation of federal tax credits last year.
