OTTAWA — Canada will hit back at U.S. President Donald Trump’s 25 percent global steel and aluminum duties with tariffs that target C$29.8 billion worth of American goods.

“We will not stand idly by while our iconic steel and aluminum industries are being unfairly targeted,” Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc said Wednesday.

Ottawa will respond “dollar for dollar” with reciprocal tariffs on imports from the U.S. as of midnight Wednesday. Targets include C$12.6 billion in American steel, C$3 billion in aluminum and C$14.2 billion on additional U.S. goods, including computers, sports equipment and cast iron products.
