Union of Concerned Scientists President Johanna Chao Kreilick resigned from her post this month after three years on the job, the climate change and science advocacy group announced.

“Kreilick resigned from UCS earlier this month to pursue other professional opportunities,” the organization wrote in a statement on its website.

The group has appointed Kim Waddell, an environmental scientist who has served for eight years as a member of the UCS board, to serve as acting president.

Waddell “will oversee the organization while the board of directors conducts a comprehensive and rigorous search for a permanent president,” the group said.
