Comer says Granholm ducking oversight, demands testimony

Republicans on Wednesday also slammed the Department of Energy over new building energy codes.

House Oversight and Accountability Chair James Comer is calling out Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, saying she’s sidestepping his repeated requests to appear before the committee.

In a letter sent to Granholm on Wednesday, the Kentucky Republican said that DOE has failed to indicate whether she could appear for six different proposed hearing dates in April, May and June.

“The Committee has engaged in good faith with the Energy Department to solidify a future date for DOE Secretary Granholm to testify at a public hearing, yet the Department continues to indicate the Secretary is unavailable for any proposed hearing dates,” Comer said in a statement.
