Committee OKs FERC nominees; Senate confirms nuclear pick

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are hoping to approve Federal Energy Regulatory Commission nominees in the coming weeks.

The Senate on Tuesday confirmed Nuclear Regulatory Commission Chair Christopher Hanson to remain on the panel for another term.

That floor vote came just hours after the the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee easily passed all three of President Joe Biden’s nominees to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

Democratic nominee David Rosner and Republican nominee Lindsay See both cleared committee on a 16-3 vote. The other Democratic nominee, Judy Chang, passed 15-4.

“Confirmation of these three nominations will ensure that the commission has a full complement of five commissioners’ continuous important work,” said Chair Joe Manchin (I-W.Va.).
