The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee approved five nominees Tuesday, including for a senior role at the Department of Transportation.
The panel cleared Ryan McCormack to become undersecretary for policy, where he would serve as a top adviser to Secretary Sean Duffy. McCormack is currently deputy chief of staff.
The nominee was previously an aide to Rep. Scott Fitzgerald (R-Wis.). During Duffy’s time in the House, McCormack served as his legislative director, as well as his campaign manager in 2018.
Separately, the committee advanced Daniel Edwards to become assistant secretary of Transportation for aviation and international affairs.
