Committee sets vote on FERC nominees, land bills

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission picks would restore a Republican majority on the panel.

The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee will vote on President Donald Trump’s nominees to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Thursday.

The committee heard from the picks — White House adviser David LaCerte and energy attorney Laura Swett — last week for their confirmation hearing.

Democrats were particularly keen to hear from LaCerte, a presidential adviser on personnel issues, on his experience and the agency’s independence.

“I’ll do the utmost of my ability under the law to maintain the independence of FERC, a hundred percent,” he said.
