A House committee will vote Wednesday on bipartisan legislation to address the problem of errant drones entering restricted airspace during wildfires.

The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on Wednesday will markup an amended version of the “Wildfire Aerial Response Safety Act,” H.R. 6618.

It would require the Federal Aviation Administration to launch a study assessing how unauthorized drones impact wildfire suppression efforts. In addition to quantifying the number of these instances and their impact on response teams, the study would test the feasibility of various prevention measures.
