The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee is looking to question and vote on President Donald Trump’s nominee for Office of Management and Budget deputy director.

Former Rep. Dan Bishop of North Carolina, a member of the GOP’s conservative wing, will face a barrage of questions about the president’s spending freezes and other efforts to shrink the federal bureaucracy.

When announcing his selection in December, Trump said Bishop “has been a tireless fighter for our MAGA Movement.” The president said, “Dan will implement my cost-cutting and deregulatory agenda across all Agencies, and root out the Weaponized Deep State.”

Separately, the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee will question Michael Kratsios to lead the Office of Science and Technology Policy.
