Conservative clean energy advocacy group ClearPath is launching a program to put young people aligned with its priorities into staff positions in congressional offices.
The group, which pushes for policies like promoting nuclear energy and incentivizing new low-emissions technology, is aiming to strengthen a pipeline of government policy staff that can promote its ideas in Republican circles, including Congress and the executive branch.
ClearPath already has put five fellows into congressional offices. But with the Tuesday announcement, it is formalizing the efforts as its Conservative Climate Leadership Program. It is seeking new buy-in from recruits, lawmaker offices, committees and others.
“In DC, people are policy, and we recognize the pivotal role of having talented individuals in the policy process,” Andrea Steiner, ClearPath’s chief operating officer, said in a statement.
