Conservative lawmakers and energy advocates will gather on Capitol Hill on Wednesday to urge Congress to overhaul the permitting process for energy and infrastructure projects.

Leaders of the Conservative Energy Network and several members of Congress, including Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-Iowa), are set to call for “urgent action on permitting reform and grid modernization,” per a press release from the right-leaning advocacy group.

The press conference will come as lawmakers on both sides of the aisle work to assemble a legislative package to speed up regulatory approvals for pipelines, transmission lines, power plants and other major projects.
