Republican John Curtis of Utah, founder of the House Conservative Climate Caucus, will serve on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.
Curtis, who won the Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Mitt Romney, has vowed to work on bipartisan climate action. He’ll also serve on the Small Business and Foreign Relations panels, incoming Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) announced Friday.
Curtis told ABC News in an interview aired Sunday that he would be an independent voice in the Senate. “I do have my own mind, and I’m not a rubber stamp. My stamp is the stamp of the state of Utah,” he said.
West Virginia Republican Jim Justice, who is replacing independent Joe Manchin, will serve on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee. He’ll also sit on Agriculture.
