A House Oversight and Accountability subcommittee will question witnesses this week on improving federal cybersecurity regulations.

Cybersecurity, Information Technology and Government Innovation Subcommittee Chair Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) has called a hearing on “Eliminating Inconsistent Regulations.”

Among the witnesses is Maggie O’Connell, director for security, reliability and resilience for the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America. The group has worked with agencies to develop plans to safeguard pipelines and other infrastructure.

Mace said in a statement, “The White House needs to rein in unchecked agency regulators to ensure cybersecurity regulations across the federal government are coherent and consistent. That will require the Administration to work closely with industry partners to harmonize regulations in a manner that improves cybersecurity outcomes while alleviating unnecessary burdens on business.”
