A group of Senate Democrats is dialing up pressure on the Trump administration over its embrace of artificial intelligence and data-centers, which they say is driving up energy bills for ordinary Americans.

The lawmakers — including Sens. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who caucuses with Democrats — sent a letter Monday to Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Director Michael Kratsios, accusing the administration of prioritizing Big Tech’s energy demands over consumer costs.

“Since his second inauguration, President Trump has cozied up to Meta, Google, Oracle, OpenAI, and other Big Tech companies, fast-tracking and pushing for the buildout of power-hungry data centers across the country,” the lawmakers wrote.
