Democrats target MAHA in Earth Day actions

As Democrats gathered on Capitol Hill on Wednesday to commemorate Earth Day, they took aim at a new facet of President Donald Trump’s coalition: the “Make American Healthy Again” movement.

The newly galvanized Environmental Justice caucuses — made up of progressive Democrats in both the House and the Senate — released a report Wednesday intended to show “how the Trump administration’s ‘Make America Healthy Again’ mantra is yet another broken promise to the American people.”

In an ensuing Earth Day event, Senate EJ Caucus Co-Chair Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) said she wanted Democrats to “call bullshit on the President of the United States and his lie that he cares even the tiniest bit about making Americans healthy.”

“MAHA is just another one of his broken campaign promises. MAHA is just another one of his lies to the American people,” Duckworth said.
