Senate Democrats this week urged President Joe Biden to reconsider efforts to speed up construction of data centers at the expense of environmental regulation.

Biden is said to be planning executive action that would fast-track the construction of the data centers that power artificial intelligence, allowing companies to potentially circumvent clean air and water requirements.

Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii), Peter Welch (D-Vt.), Ed Markey (D-Mass.) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) slammed the effort in a letter to the White House on Tuesday.
