House Democrats want the federal government’s help in tracking the Trump administration’s freeze on Biden-era spending, arguing that the current president’s actions have “sowed confusion and chaos across the country.”
Led by Rep. Sean Casten (D-Ill.), more than 100 Democrats are urging the Government Accountability Office to establish a database to “systematically track disbursement of funds” through the Inflation Reduction Act and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
Those funds were frozen by a Trump executive order on his first day in office. Democrats argue that follow-up actions from the administration have been “insufficient to provide certainty for our constituents.”
“The freezing of IRA and IIJA funds has already had immediate and measurable consequences, jeopardizing national and state climate initiatives and harming communities that rely on this funding,” they added.
