TALLAHASSEE, Florida — Gov. Ron DeSantis signed legislation Wednesday barring all diversity, equity and inclusion efforts and certain limits on greenhouse gas emissions by local governments, building on Florida’s push to curb liberal-leaning policies.

By enacting the two measures, DeSantis (R) maintains Florida will remain at the forefront of the fight by conservatives against “woke” laws and regulations, as the state takes on “the people in the higher echelons of society, leaders, and in the bureaucracy, corporations.”

“They’ve really had an era where they were trying to impose a lot of this stuff on our society,” DeSantis said Wednesday during a bill signing in Jacksonville. “Some have resisted better than others — none have resisted better than the free state of Florida.”
