Energy Secretary Chris Wright this week dismissed climate policy as a tool of government control, and he described as “sinister” efforts to zero out planet-warming emissions by midcentury.

Wright delivered the biting criticism Monday while speaking via video to a London conference of conservative leaders.

The crowd in attendance at the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship event included right-wing politicians, oil company representatives and conservative think tank leaders. The other speakers included House Speaker Mike Johnson, Republican businessman Vivek Ramaswamy and other opponents of climate policy.
