Elon Musk left his gig as the leader of the Trump administration’s government-chopping operation months ago, but DOGE is still at work cutting environmental agencies’ spending.

The so-called Department of Government Efficiency continues to post cuts on its website, with the latest update to its “savings” page dated July 26. EPA currently ranks among the top performers on DOGE’s “efficiency” tracker that ranks agencies by their spending cuts.

EPA lands at No. 5 among agencies tracked by DOGE. The Interior and Energy Departments are in 13th and 16th place, respectively. Recent cuts include Interior contract cancellations from July and EPA grants terminated in June.

Musk and the Trump administration vowed that DOGE’s work would continue after the Tesla CEO kick-started the government downsizing effort this year, with Musk referring to DOGE as a “way of life” that was “permeating throughout the government.”
