An aide to former West Virginia independent Sen. Joe Manchin is going to work for one of the nation’s largest utilities.

Renae Black, staff director during Manchin’s last years as Energy and Natural Resources Committee chair, will be Duke Energy’s new chief sustainability officer, the company said Monday.

Black helped shape the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act. The Louisiana native was also a staffer to Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu during her time on Capitol Hill.
