The Vulkan Group said it wanted to sabotage the EV giant’s expansion plans.

Elon Musk lashed out Tuesday after the left-wing Vulkan Group claimed responsibility for an attack on a substation that shut down operations at Europe’s largest Tesla factory near Berlin.

According to a letter posted on the website kontrapolis, the Vulkan Group — which is classified in Germany as left-wing extremist — wanted to protest against the U.S. car manufacturer, co-founded by billionaire entrepreneur Musk, over its environmental footprint.

“The factory contaminates the groundwater and consumes huge quantities of the already scarce drinking water resource for its products,” reads the group’s letter. “Tesla is a symbol for ‘green capitalism.’”

Musk acknowledged the attack in a post on X, formerly Twitter, calling the protestors “the dumbest eco-terrorists on Earth.” The billionaire went further, musing about why the group would target electric cars and not those powered by fossil fuels if their motivation is protecting the environment.
