One of Capitol Hill’s biggest critics of expanded telework for federal employees is preparing a plan for President-elect Donald Trump to cut back on the practice.

Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) said Wednesday she will deliver “a roadmap” to clamp down on civil servants working from home to the incoming administration as well as to Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, leaders of the so-called Department of Government Efficiency, an outside advisory group set up by Trump to recommend chops to federal spending and regulations.

Telework, which became more prevalent at agencies during the Covid-19 pandemic, is a top target for Republican lawmakers, who argue it has hindered government services.

“Bad news for teleworking bureaucrats,” Ernst posted on social media. ” I am delivering a roadmap to” Trump, Musk and Ramaswamy “on how to end the shenanigans and get the federal workforce back to work.”
