A senior career official at EPA has left as the agency continues a vast reshaping under the Trump administration.
Cecil Rodrigues, most recently part of the leadership team at the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance, retired from EPA on July 31. He spent close to four decades at the agency and helped to oversee its latest transition with the new administration.
“Almost 39 years of service is a long time,” Rodrigues said in an interview. “I think it’s time for me to step back and enjoy my time with my children, my grandson and my parents.”
EPA spokesperson Brigit Hirsch said throughout his career, Rodrigues “provided steady direction across regional and national offices and strengthened EPA’s enforcement and compliance mission through sound legal and program management.”
