EPA is adding new sites to its Superfund priorities list, which organizes testing and cleanup for the country’s most polluted areas.
A final rule set to publish Thursday in the Federal Register expands the Superfund program’s National Priorities List by three: Historic Potteries in Trenton, New Jersey; Carlisle Village Cleaners in Albuquerque, New Mexico; and J.H. Baxter in Eugene, Oregon.
The rule marks the first Superfund NPL additions under the second Trump administration. The three sites — as well as the Exide Technologies site in Vernon, California — were first proposed for Superfund listing in September 2024.
Technical documents relating to the Exide Technologies site, a former battery recycling plant, are still open to public comment. An EPA spokesperson said the documents were released in response to “significant comments” and the agency “will continue to work expeditiously to review and respond to all comments received.”
