EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation has added to the ranks of its top political appointees, with the promotion of Jennifer Macedonia to serve as deputy assistant administrator for implementation, according to EPA’s website.

In that role, Macedonia has lead responsibility for billions of dollars’ worth of spending under the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act to improve air quality around ports, cut methane emissions and other purposes, agency spokesperson Remmington Belford said Monday in response to emailed questions.

Her elevation is one in a series that appear at least partly intended to address the air office’s expanded workload stemming from the Inflation Reduction Act and a 2021 infrastructure law that also brought increased funding.

Those include the promotions of Alejandra Nunez to become the office’s principal deputy assistant administrator and William Niebling to become deputy assistant administrator of air quality implementation, another newly created job.
