EPA is touting its expanded enforcement program to protect the environment as the agency braces for the return of President-elect Donald Trump.
EPA released its fiscal 2024 results for enforcement and compliance on Thursday, with several measurements of the agency’s drive to curb violations of the law on the rise. Bolstering EPA’s role as the environmental cop on the beat has been a top priority of the outgoing Biden administration.
“EPA’s enforcement and compliance assurance program produced its strongest results since 2017, focusing on efforts to combat climate change and tackling some of the nation’s most significant environmental threats to our shared air, water and land,” said David Uhlmann, head of EPA’s enforcement office, in a statement.
That included setting record figures since the beginning of the first Trump administration in several aspects of EPA’s enforcement program.
