EPA posted up to hundreds of new positions to its internal job board as part of a reorganization shakeup that could leave the agency without a stand-alone research office and many staffers competing for jobs.
“All EPA employees are eligible to apply” to the new positions posted online Friday night for the agency’s water, air, chemicals and administrator’s offices, a spokesperson said.
According to multiple EPA employees granted anonymity, political leadership specifically encouraged staff in the agency’s Office of Research and Development to apply for the openings during an officewide town hall late Friday afternoon.
“I think the general message was, apply to these jobs if you want to continue to be employed by EPA,” said one employee in the research office.
