EPA next week will delete its remaining program-specific social media accounts, marking another wave of online consolidation efforts.
An “Important Page Update” posted Thursday afternoon on the Facebook and X accounts for the agency’s air, land, water, chemical safety, and international and tribal affairs offices says updates “will be moving to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency National” pages “beginning on June 16, 2025.”
As of Thursday afternoon, none of the agency’s accounts for regional offices had posted the message. Its Facebook and X pages for Spanish speakers and for its AirNow program also remained active and also had not shared the same memo.
Other social media profiles — the Safer Choice program, its research office and new job opportunities at the agency, to name a few examples — started disappearing within the first month after President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
