EPA’s top watchdog told a House committee that her office is planning a special review of the agency’s embattled multibillion-dollar green finance program.
Acting Inspector General Nicole Murley informed the Energy and Commerce Committee in written answers to questions from a February hearing that her office had initiated an “audit and evaluation planning process to examine how the EPA is administering and overseeing taxpayer dollars awarded through the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund.”
“Our staff is currently drafting a cross-component proposal for a special review evaluating the GGRF program design, focusing on the National Clean Investment Fund [NCIF] and the Clean Communities Investment Accelerator [CCIA],” Murley said.
EPA asked the Office of Inspector General to audit the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund last month. The OIG has already announced it is investigating a related $7 billion solar program for low-income communities.
