House lawmakers this week will delve into a new EPA science office created as part of President Donald Trump’s vast reorganization of the agency.

The House Science, Space and Technology Subcommittee on Environment will hold a hearing on the Office of Applied Science and Environmental Solutions. It replaced a larger Office of Research and Development.

Administrator Lee Zeldin has more direct authority over the new bureau. Democrats and environmental groups have said the reorganization will diminish and politicize EPA’s scientific work.
