Tim Del Monico, head of EPA’s congressional affairs shop, is returning to Capitol Hill.

Del Monico started Friday as chief of staff for newly elected Rep. Sam Liccardo (D-Calif.), according to an internal email obtained by POLITICO’s E&E News. Del Monico served as EPA’s associate administrator for congressional and intergovernmental relations for the past two years.

“This job has been an absolute blast,” Del Monico said in the email sent Monday to agency staff. “I’m incredibly appreciative to have had the opportunity to work with EPA’s dedicated career staff, the dynamic political team and the Administrator, to make the country a better place.”
