The Senate will vote Thursday on President Joe Biden’s final nominee to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, after senators confirmed two other picks Wednesday.
Lawmakers are poised to approve Judy Chang — a former Massachusetts energy and environment official — after voting 63-31 on Wednesday afternoon to wind down debate.
The 31 opposing senators were all Republicans, indicating the discomfort many conservatives have with Chang. In 2018, she expressed doubt about the need for more natural gas infrastructure in New England.

Politics is also playing a role, with many Republicans unwilling to back a Biden nominee. On Wednesday, more than a dozen Republicans opposed the other Democratic FERC nominee, David Rosner, in a 67-27 vote.
