The California group EnviroVoters on Monday became the first home-state environmental group to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for president.
The group, which had also endorsed President Joe Biden in November, cited Harris’ work on environmental justice issues in California, including as San Francisco district attorney, California attorney general and U.S. senator.
“It’s clear she is the right leader for our nation in the climate fight for our future,” EnviroVoters CEO Mary Creasman said in a letter Monday evening.
EnviroVoters’ national arm, the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, joined three other large environmental groups in endorsing Harris earlier Monday: the Natural Resources Defense Council Action Fund, the Sierra Club and Clean Energy for America Action.
