A senior policy official with House Republicans is now helping oversee the Bureau of Land Management as it works to implement the Trump administration’s agenda amid substantial staff losses.

Ryan Hofmann, deputy policy director at the House Republican Conference, is working with the BLM director’s staff but does not yet have a formal title, according to a senior Interior Department official and documents reviewed by POLITICO’s E&E News.

The Interior Department official, who was granted anonymity because they are not authorized to discuss the matter publicly, said Hofmann likely will end up with the title of senior policy adviser.
