TALLAHASSEE, Florida — Gov. Ron DeSantis said Tuesday that more than 4 million homes and businesses had their power restored since Hurricane Milton slammed into the state last week.
“That is the fastest it’s ever been done for that many accounts,” DeSantis said. “Even if you’re without power for a few hours, that can be a real pain in the rear end.”
At a media briefing in Zephyrhills, DeSantis said many of the remaining customers without power are with Tampa Electric in Hillsborough County.
As of 3 p.m., there were 152,445 homes and businesses without power statewide, including 87,380 TECO customers in the Tampa area, according to the Public Service Commission. There also were 31,642 homes and businesses without power in Pinellas County, most of them Duke Energy Florida customers.
