One of the House’s newest members has secured a seat on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
The assignment for Rep. Jimmy Patronis (R-Fla.) gives him a nexus to policies surrounding electric vehicles, an issue he was involved in during his previous job.
As Florida’s chief financial officer, a position that includes duties formerly handled by the fire marshal, Patronis has investigated fires caused by flooded EVs.
Patronis told POLITICO’s E&E News the issue was still a priority for him, but he’s not certain how to address it in Congress. “There’s a real problem there but no solutions,” he said in an interview.
