The Senate will start its week with votes Monday to return David Wright to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission as part of a push to confirm as many nominees as possible before the August recess.
The chamber usually holds only one vote on Monday evening. But pressure from President Donald Trump to secure more of his picks in the face of Democratic resistance means lawmakers may work a bit extra in the coming days. At least three votes are planned for Monday.
Activity on nominees will also remain brisk in committee, with several energy and environment selections among those under pre-recess consideration.
The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee will vote on Lanny Erdos to lead the Interior Department’s Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement, as well as Department of Energy picks.
