A nonprofit legal group at the forefront of courtroom battles against the Trump administration has hired five new attorneys, including former lawyers for the Justice Department’s environment division and EPA’s regional office in New England.
Since President Donald Trump returned to office, Democracy Forward said it has launched more than 400 legal actions and hundreds of investigations against the administration for dismantling federal protections and gutting the civil service. The group said it has doubled its litigation team over the last 15 months.
The new hires will help continue to expand safeguards for people and communities, said Skye Perryman, CEO of Democracy Forward.
“It is more important now than ever that we build on the success we have seen in courts as they have become the frontline in the fight against unlawful abuses of the Trump-Vance administration’s power,” Perryman said in a statement Friday. “As more people are finding the courage to defend their rights, we have seen a skyrocketing litigation docket across the courts landscape.”
