A top aide to former Vice President Kamala Harris has taken a job with a climate policy group co-founded by Amazon.
Ernesto Apreza, who served as Harris’ press secretary and held the title special assistant to the president, recently started as a principal for engagement with The Climate Pledge, which works to get commitments from corporations for reaching net zero by 2040. Apreza, 36, will be focused on getting corporations in Latin America to sign the pledge.
Apreza said he will also help companies develop sustainable climate solutions as they try to maintain a competitive edge on “artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.”
“No matter what the political landscape might be, we know the private sector must play a critical role in helping to address climate change,β Apreza said in a statement. βIt also happens to be good for business.β
