The Interior Department has reinforced its media shop with the hiring of former Natural Resources Defense Council spokesperson Anne Hawke as deputy communications director.

Trained as a lawyer and experienced as a journalist, Hawke joined Interior after nine years at NRDC, where she was senior press secretary.

“I am so grateful to have the opportunity to work with the agency’s talented comms team and its many bureaus across the country,” Hawke stated on her LinkedIn page, adding that “I’ll be focusing on digital media, internal communications, speechwriting and environmental justice.”
