Travelers who want to cut their carbon footprint will find it easier to book a train thanks to a partnership between Google and Amtrak.

Under the agreement announced Wednesday, people who use Google or Google Flights to search for airline tickets will also see options for taking trains along the same route — at least in some parts of the country. If they choose the train, they’ll be directed to Amtrak’s website, where the trip will be prepopulated.

The move helps Google follow through on corporate commitments to promote low-emissions travel. And it positions Amtrak as a greener alternative to cars and planes.
