House Energy and Commerce Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers is cautioning two energy regulatory agencies to keep things bipartisan before President-elect Donald Trump takes control in January.

The Washington Republican sent letters to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on Wednesday recommending they “abandon partisan efforts and instead focus remaining efforts on bipartisan, consensus items.”

“As a traditional part of the peaceful transfer of power, the [agency] should immediately stop work on any partisan or controversial item under consideration, consistent with applicable law and regulation,” Rodgers said in letters to both FERC and NRC.

Rodgers did not specify what initiative she would consider partisan, but both regulators have potential pending actions that could ruffle feathers on the Hill during the lame duck.
