Arizona Republican Rep. Paul Gosar is once again attempting to push through a bill he’s sponsored multiple times over the past decade that aims to promote renewable energy by streamlining the permitting process.

Gosar’s H.R. 8954 focuses on using revenues derived from wind, solar and geothermal power projects on federal lands, such as rental fees, to fund a program that would help the Bureau of Land Management and other agencies speed up the review process for issuing right-of-way permits for green energy projects.

The “Public Land Renewable Energy Development Act of 2024” would also establish a revenue-sharing plan that would give a portion of fee revenues generated from wind and solar projects on federal lands to host states and counties.

“Renewable energy sources like wind, solar, and geothermal are an integral part of the United States’ all-of-the-above energy strategy,” said Gosar, who chairs the Natural Resources Committee’s Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, in an emailed statement that also took a shot at President Joe Biden’s energy policies.
